Studies on Eye Tracking and Sport are increasingly expanding, and consequently, the knowledge we are gaining in relation to athletic performance is also growing.
SR Labs, together with Sports Psychologist Sara Bordo, is conducting research on the visual-attentive skills of a group of competitive tennis players with medium-to-high rankings. The goal is to analyze the differences between various levels of expertise in order to create training aimed at enhancing performance.

How it works

Through eye tracking, it is possible to measure and objectify the performance of athletes, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement, while also evaluating the effects of the training itself.
In fact, this technology makes it possible to analyze the visual patterns of tennis players in terms of fixations and saccades, to understand which areas receive the most focus, and to measure reaction times related to eye-hand coordination.

The starting theoretical framework is based on Vickers’ studies regarding Quiet-Eye, Decision Training, and cognitive overload exercises designed to create a “gym for the mind” and for the attentional skills of athletes.

The results have led to the creation of useful guidelines for developing VR EyeTracking training, which aims to guide athletes in adopting the most functional behaviors to optimize their performance.
