Experimental Set Up

The collection of data is necessary for the preparation of an experimental setup that reflects, as closely as possible, the real conditions of use of the object of the study. To this end, there are usually three main preparation phases:

» Free observation of the stimulus (usually the main screen of the platform to be tested) for a short, predetermined interval of time.
This test requires users to observe the material without a specific purpose (a bottom-up top-down process).

» Implementation of specific tasks (task oriented navigation) on the platform tested. The tasks to be assigned to users usually chosen with the customer / client, often after a focus group, in order to carefully select aspects for analysis.
In this case, the objective is to assess the traceability and the recognition of specific elements within the stimulus;

» Interviews and collection of cognitive walkthrough.
